How do we build Self-Confidence?
And then how do we teach our children to have self-confidence?
Perhaps what you didn't realize is...
Children constantly learn through role modeling and day-to-day interactions; our unconscious, unwanted behaviors and patterns influence and shape them. Ugh, yes, horrid thought. Of course, we learned from our own role-model's lack of confidence. None of us were taught "how to build self-confidence" - in school or at home; it is a skill that is lacking in schools and our culture. If we don't know how to do this for ourselves, how can we expect to help our children to learn and be the amazing people they were born to be? We can't.
So, how do you build your own self-confidence?
First and foremost, we need to understand how our brains work. We are wired to seek safety and comfort. Only when we understand the ways in which our brains operates, can we then begin to strategize steps to take to counteract old behaviors and replace them with new ones - ones that help build self-confidence.
This is what I do. As a coach and workshop facilitator, I teach parents, educators and students how we are wired and what tools we can use to replace behaviors that don't serve us well.
